How To - Control the frequency at which specific devices are checked

As mentioned in various documents, IPSentry cycles through each defined item sequentially at a preset interval.  In some cases, you may wish to have some systems checked less often than others (i.e. Drive Space monitoring) and not necessarily every single cycle.

For example, let's say that you have IPSentry set to poll every 1 minute and you only want the drive space monitor you have configured to poll every 10 or 15 minutes as this is sufficient for the free-space level defined.

When configuring a monitoring item, you need only increase the value in the Normal Poll Frequency field.  This value signifies the number of full cycles that must take place before the specified item is checked.

Setting this value to 5 would cause IPSentry to check this device only once for every 5 monitoring cycles.
